ARPENTISAZ

Arpentisaz is a project of reflection and action around natural fibres in Réunion Island : wool, sisal and banana fibre.
On an insular territory highly dependent on imports, the project explores the potential of local raw materials and seeks to make these resources desirable and visible.

Its aim was to map existing initiatives, to bring together the actors involved in developing a local textile production and transformation network, and to open a space where art, design and craft could meet.

The project culminated in a manifesto — an exhibition-workshop, during which the public was invited to participate, learn textile know-hows, and experiment with materials.

Building on the relational potential of textile, Arpentisaz forms part of a broader reflection on the role of artists and creatives in territorial development, through collective, site-specific experiences.
