KADER
Textile artefact series
local wool and banana fibre, natural avocado dye
2025
Kader is a textile artefact designed to highlight the wool produced in the highlands of Réunion Island, and to explore its dialogue with other local plant fibres.
The wool, collected in the Plaine des Cafres town (southern highlands) through Audace, a social integration workshop dedicated to woolcraft and the reuse of sheep-farming waste, is interlaced with a braid of banana fibre running through it.
The piece was created in collaboration with Geneviève, a wool artisan (Cire de Laine) and former employee of the Audace workshop.
The soft pink hue comes from a natural avocado dye, prepared using fruits from the garden.
